One significant distinction lies in its unique liturgical traditions, which blend elements of ancient Judaic practices with Christian rituals. Unlike many other Christian groups, the Ethiopian Orthodox Church venerates a wider canon of scripture, including books such as the "Book of Enoch" and "Jubilees." Additionally, it maintains an ancient Semitic language, Ge'ez, in its liturgy. Another distinctive feature is its reverence for saints and relics, which plays a central role in Ethiopian Orthodox spirituality. Furthermore, the Church's historical isolation has contributed to its preservation of certain theological and ecclesiastical traditions, creating a distinct flavor within the broader Christian landscape. These factors combine to give the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church its unique identity within the tapestry of global Christianity. Though, like many organized religions, it has played a significant role in forwarding cultural repression and state violence against other national groups in Ethiopia.
