I first read the series in high school, and upon reflection all these years on, i can see why i found it so relatable, as much of my thinking in my early years was occupied by wondering about the unfairness and injustice in the world. Here are some of my thoughts on the book:

Suzanne Collins' "The Hunger Games" trilogy stands as a dystopian masterpiece, but beneath its thrilling narrative lies a poignant commentary on systemic injustice, power dynamics, and the resilience of the human spirit. From a social justice perspective, Collins deftly unveils the harsh realities of a society starkly divided by privilege and oppression, inviting readers to confront uncomfortable truths about our own world.

Collins skillfully explores themes of classism, exploitation, and rebellion, forcing readers to confront the parallels between Panem and our own world. The Capitol's manipulation of the Games for entertainment serves as a chilling reminder of how those in power exploit the suffering of others to maintain their dominance.

Moreover, "The Hunger Games" highlights the power of solidarity and collective action in the face of oppression. Collins celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the capacity for ordinary people to spark extraordinary change.
